FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about California personal injury claims.

How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in California?

California's statute of limitations for most personal injury claims is two years from the date of the injury. For claims against a government entity, the deadline can be as short as six months. Missing these deadlines typically bars your claim entirely, so it is critical to speak with an attorney as soon as possible.

How much does it cost to hire Singh Law HQ?

We handle every personal injury case on a contingency fee basis. That means no upfront costs and no attorney fees unless we recover compensation for you. Your case evaluation is always free.

What types of compensation can I recover?

You may be entitled to recover medical expenses (past and future), lost wages and lost earning capacity, property damage, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life. In cases involving especially reckless conduct, punitive damages may also be available.

What if I was partially at fault for my accident?

California follows a 'pure comparative negligence' rule, which means you can still recover compensation even if you were partially at fault. Your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault, but you are not barred from recovering. We can help evaluate the facts and present your case in the strongest possible light.

Should I talk to the other driver's insurance company?

We strongly recommend you do not give a recorded statement or sign anything from the other side's insurance company until you speak with an attorney. Insurance adjusters are trained to minimize what they pay out, and even a casual statement can be used to reduce your claim.

Do I have to go to court?

Most personal injury cases are resolved through negotiation or mediation without ever going to trial. However, we prepare every case as if it will go to court, which gives us stronger leverage in settlement negotiations and means we are ready to fight if the insurance company refuses to be reasonable.

What areas of California do you serve?

We represent clients throughout the entire state of California, from Riverside and the Inland Empire to Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, the Bay Area, and beyond.

What types of cases do you handle?

Singh Law HQ focuses exclusively on personal injury, including motor vehicle accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, slip and fall, premises liability, dog bites, and wrongful death. We do not handle medical malpractice cases.
